Kamillethee uit eigen tuin.

Vandaag weer een paar bloemknopjes geplukt. Dit is de tweede oogst. Grote hoeveelheden zijn het niet, maar toch leuk om straks thee uit eigen tuin te hebben.

Nu nog even laten drogen. De eerste oogst heb ik in de oven gedroogd, dat ging heel goed.

Bloemetjes uit eigen tuin

De afgelopen twee weken heb ik steeds kleine bosjes bloemen uit eigen tuin.

Daar fleurt het huis meteen van op!  

Ik droom van een grote tuin waar ik zelf bloemen kan kweken om boeketten te maken. Hoop dat die droom ooit in vervulling zal gaan. 

De echte meibloemetjes mogen natuurlijk niet ontbreken: de lelietjes der dalen. Met hun heerlijke geur komt je huis in lente sferen. 

Het vaasje op de laatste foto is eigenlijk geen vaasje maar een Maggie flesje. Mijn oma had dit 'vaasje'. Ik vind hem heel speciaal.

Needlefelted sheephead

Last december I started with a new project of creating a big animalhead. I was inspired by the Herdwick sheep from the Scottish Highlands, the favourite sheep of Beatice Potter (from Peter Rabbit).

Now it's finished and I need to take more pictures. Than he will be available in my Etsyshop. He're is the first picture.

Fell in love with a hotel

Ik ben een redelijk bezige pinner op pinterest. Voor mij een belangrijke inspiratiebron. Het leuke is dat je pinterest kunt gebruiken om iets te zoeken: als je weet wat je zoekt. Maar nog leuker is het om er te vinden. 

Zoals de titel van dit bericht al doet vermoeden heb ik iets gevonden en wel een hotel. Een hotel dat helemaal aansluit bij mijn gevoel: het Amercan Trade hotel. Helaas is de locatie wat minder bereikbaar, want het ligt in Panama city. 

Maar o wat kan ik wegdromen bij het zien van de interieur foto's. Ken je het gevoel van verliefdheid, de vlinders in je buik? Nou dat gevoel krijg ik als ik naar deze foto's kijk. Ah, die sfeer, geweldig!

Het doet me denken aan koloniaal en art deco. Vintage maar dan origineel. Kijk die tegels op de vloer. Kortom een geweldige parel die gered is van verval. Meer lezen over de geschiedenis van dit hotel, kijk dan op Amercan Trade hotel

Film-list - Filmlijst

Aan de linkerzijkant van dit blog vind je de films die ik gezien heb. Van recente datum, maar ook van wat jaren terug. Het zijn meestal films met een verhaal, een verhaal dat gaat over mensen en de keuzes die zij in hun leven maken. Vaak gaat het over tegenstellingen, twee kanten van hetzelfde.

Ik hou van Art house films. Met een bezoek aan een filmhuis kun je mij blij maken. Het is de gemoedelijke sfeer en het gemengde publiek (van jong tot oud) die mij in een filmhuis aanspreken, naast het type film uiteraard. Vooraf even een goede kop koffie of latte macchiato en dan naar de film en daarna even bijpraten.

Zo ontstaat een filmlijst in mijn hoofd. Een lijst met films die ik gezien heb en die ik wil aanbevelen. Die ga ik dit jaar met jullie delen. Het gaat om mijn verhaal: waarom ik die film geslaagd, ontroerend, spannend of gewoon leuk vind.

Mijn favoriete filmhuis is Lumiere in Maastricht. Een groot filmhuis dat alles heeft voor het beleven van een mooi verhaal. In opkomst is de ECI cultuurfabriek in Roermond. Het oude filmhuis in de azijnfabriek Roermond sprak mij qua sfeer totaal niet aan. Nu het filmhuis in de ECI cultuurfabriek volledig nieuw is opgezet merk je dat de filmbeleving met stapjes vooruit gaat. Helaas weten de Art house filmliefhebbers van Roermond en omgeving dit vernieuwde filmhuis nog niet massaal te vinden.

La Grande Belezza (bron: de correspondent)

De meest recente door mij bekeken film is La Grande Belezza. Dit is de eerste film die ik twee keer ben gaan bekijken. Normaal heb ik een film gezien als ik hem heb gezien. Maar La Grande Belezza heeft me betoverd, ik kan er naar blijven kijken. De beelden, de kleuren, de muziek, je kunt het voelen, kortom ik raak er niet over uitgepraat. Een film die op iedereen van toepassing is, als je je ervoor openstelt. Terecht de film van het jaar 2013 geworden. Een niet alledaagse recensie vind je hier bij de correspondent door Ernst-Jan Pfauth. Binnenkort deel ik met jullie een ander bijzonder filmpareltje.

On the left side of this blog you find the films I've seen. Recent, but also from a few years back. They are usually films with a story, a story that is about people and the choices they make in their lives. Often these are about opposites, two sides of the same.

I love Art house films. With a visit to an art house-cinema, you can make me happy. It is the friendly atmosphere and the mixed audience (young and old) that appeal to me in a art house cinema, next to the type of film, of course. A good cup of coffee or latte macchiato in advance and then to the film and afterwards socialize.

This creates a film-list. A list of films I have seen and I would recommend. I'm going to share them with you this year. It's my story: why I found that film succeeding, touching, exciting or why I just liked it.

My favorite art house cinema is Lumiere in Maastricht. A great cinema that has everything you expect of a film experience. In attendance is the ECI culture factory in Roermond. The old cinema in the vinegar factory Roermond was not my cup of tea at all. Now the art house-cinema is in the ECI culture factory, with a completely new setup. You notice that the film experience is going forward with steps. Unfortunately, namely Art house film-lovers of Roermond and surrounding don't flock to this new art house cinema yet.

The most recent film viewed by me is La Grande Belezza. This is the first film that I went to see twice. Normally I have seen a film when I saw him. But La Grande Belezza has enchanted me, I can not stop looking. The images, the colors, the music, you can feel it, in short: I can not stop talking about it. A film that applies to everyone, if you do open yourself. Rightly, it became the film of the year 2013. An unusual review can be found here at the correspondent by Ernst-Jan Pfauth. Autumn rain

Sometimes the weather changes fast. And by that moment also the light is changing. 23 oktober 2013 about half past 8 it started to rain and the light made it look like we were living in the seventies. Take a look at the pictures below.

Fireman walk with us

In Maastricht vindt op dit moment de Biënnale Leegstand en Herbestemming plaats.
In dit kader is de tentoonstelling Fireman walk with us in het Eifelgebouw.
Het Eifel gebouw staat in 'lichter laaien'.

In Maastricht is on this moment the first Biënnale vacancy and redevelopment. Goal is to reset our mind-set to improve and use our vacant buildings and locations instead of building something new somewhere else. The Exposition Fireman walk with is, is part of the Biënnale. The Eifel-building (old Sphinx -factory) is 'put on fire' in controle.

Region in transition, Ruhr 2010 .........

After Ruhr 2010 we were not finished with this area in transition.
So this year we went again for 3 day's.
Things you have to see are the landscape park Duisburg Nord and the Zechen Zollferein in Essen.
The basis of these project were the same, a complete area with plants that are not used anymore. Demolishing was a option but also a very expensive one. So the made the right choice to leave the building as they are.
The difference between these two projects is that the Zechen Zollferein has a clear use, for example the Ruhrmuseum and the Red Dot Design museum that are in the buildings. In the landscape park of course de buildings have a function but the the idea is that nature can take over. The functions came also more organically. For example the climbers have a big space were they climb, even for small children there is a wall to climb. The Divers -association has her own base in the old gasometer, now the 'Tauch-gasometer'.
