New item at B'Sofies: The Giraffe - handmade needle felted giraffe

Hoe is het mogelijk? Was ik vergeten het bericht over de giraf te posten. Wellicht had dit te maken met de merkwaardige zaken in de dierentuinen in Denemarken. Maar ik wil hem hierbij toch in het zonnetje zetten: mijn Giraf.

Hij is gemaakt volgens hetzelfde concept, een strakke stylistische vormgeving. De giraf is een stuk groter dan de olifant of de mammoet. Hij heeft een lief en schattig kopje. 

Net als de olifant en mammoet is ook de giraf is gemaakt van ongekleurde natuur wol. Door de grove wol van het landschaap heeft de giraf een robuuste uitstraling. De ogen zijn van glazen kraaltjes gemaakt.

Na de olifant en mammoet is ook de giraf verkrijgbaar in mijn etsyshop.

Fell in love with a hotel

Ik ben een redelijk bezige pinner op pinterest. Voor mij een belangrijke inspiratiebron. Het leuke is dat je pinterest kunt gebruiken om iets te zoeken: als je weet wat je zoekt. Maar nog leuker is het om er te vinden. 

Zoals de titel van dit bericht al doet vermoeden heb ik iets gevonden en wel een hotel. Een hotel dat helemaal aansluit bij mijn gevoel: het Amercan Trade hotel. Helaas is de locatie wat minder bereikbaar, want het ligt in Panama city. 

Maar o wat kan ik wegdromen bij het zien van de interieur foto's. Ken je het gevoel van verliefdheid, de vlinders in je buik? Nou dat gevoel krijg ik als ik naar deze foto's kijk. Ah, die sfeer, geweldig!

Het doet me denken aan koloniaal en art deco. Vintage maar dan origineel. Kijk die tegels op de vloer. Kortom een geweldige parel die gered is van verval. Meer lezen over de geschiedenis van dit hotel, kijk dan op Amercan Trade hotel

Good design always survives

Steeds meer zie je goede designklassiekers voorbij komen. De ontwerpen van tijdloze designobjecten hebben al een redelijke leeftijd. Maar goed design wordt niet oud maar een klassieker. Eerst was het House Bird van Eames, uitgebracht door Vitra, nu komen steeds meer van dit soort goede ontwerpen van vroeger op de markt.

Dankzij Architectmade zijn een groot aantal klassiekers van architecten uit Denemarken weer beschikbaar. Bijvoorbeeld de vogel van Kristian Vedel en de eend van Hans Bolling.

Kijkend naar deze objecten voel je de perfectie. Alle objecten zijn sterk door hun eenvoud. Zo ook de Turning Tray: een dienblad dat aan twee zijden te gebruiken is. Verkrijgbaar in verschillende kleuren en maten.

Al ruim een jaar loopt mijn zoektocht naar een mooi en functioneel dienblad. Ik geloof dat ik deze zoektocht kan afronden want ik heb mijn dienblad gevonden. Maar eerst nog even sparen, goed design heeft nu eenmaal zijn prijs. Maar beschouw het als een investering voor je hele leven. Zo zijn deze objecten ook bedoeld.

Flower Girl - Bloemenmeisje

Vorige week was ik in de voorjaarsstemming. Dat betekent dat ik vrolijke kleuren om me heen wil hebben. Bij het tuincentrum zag ik sleutelbloemen in geweldige kleuren. Als je hier niet instand vrolijk van wordt, waarvan dan wel? De voortuin is een beetje kleurloos omdat de winterviooltjes dit jaar hun draai niet lijken te vinden. In de hoop dat dit nog goed komt heb ik alleen de plantenbakken bij de voordeur een kleurshot gegeven.

Elke keer als ik nu naar buiten of naar binnen loop wordt ik weer even vrolijk door de kleurenpracht. Helaas lijkt de winter zich toch nog aan te dienen in Nederland deze week. We wachten af....

Last week I was in the mood for spring. That means that I want surround me with cheerful colors. At the garden center I saw primroses in great color. I fell in love instantly! The front yard is a bit colorless because winter pansies seem not to find their turn this year. In the hope that they will find their turn, I've only added a colorshot to the planters at the front door.

Every time I walk outside or inside, I am smiling because of the colors. Unfortunately, the winter seems still to serve in the Netherlands next week. We'll wait ....

Rhino handmade of felt/ Neushoorn van vilt

A little while I was working on my rhino. I mist something but now it is finished. Like the other items I make it is made of 100% pure wool with the needle felt technic.

Zwei ohr hasen

With Felt I created a very expressive rabbit. I name it 'Zwei Ohr Hasen', after the German movie 'Kein Ohr Hasen'. I gave her great eyelashes. They give Zwei Ohr Hasen a special 'look' on the world.
The little butterfly on her nose makes her sweet.

Flea markets

What is that with flea markets. I'm not a person who can stroll a day around at this markets. No, I like to walk beside and check if my eye sees something beautiful of maybe better something that has the POTENTIAL. Last Sunday there was a big flea market at Maastricht. I only sew three things I liked. The first one was a rocking chair. I already saw en beautiful chair in new colours and with a cushions like the picture below I found on Pinterest.

Sadly this chair was gone when we came back. The same happened with an old chair that needed a new furniture. The third part was a very nice bench, for I've we had a huge hallway.... No sadly we do not. And I presume most people don't, so the bench was still waiting. Maybe next time. I will let you know.

Although it is summer, it feels like autumn.

Some color brightens up my mood.

This flower is called Ranonkel in Dutch.It gives a retro feel and has also something hip and cheerful.Flowers make you happy anyway.They are works of art in itself.The petal of ranunculus are so thin and translucent, together they form a strong flower.
